Drip Tape Digger Maintenace
Digger Hydraulic Adjustment & Maintenance

1. Install 3000 PSI test gauge at the tee on the speed control valve (cable controlled “Brand” valve).
2. Start tractor.
3. Set digger’s speed control handle (cable control handle on armrest) to neutral so that retrieval head is not rotating.
4. Lock spool shaft by using a 36” long pipe or tube steel.
5. Provide digger hydraulic system with pressure by engaging aux. hydraulic valve on tractor.

6. Slowly engage (pull back) speed control handle to full open position.
7. With spool shaft in locked position, loosen dump valve set nut (the dump valve is the “Valvoil” valve located on the operator’s armrest).
8. Turn allen adjustment bolt clockwise to close relief valve. (Note: approx. 3 full turns). Retighten set nut.

9. Remove boss plug on speed control valve to expose adjustment allen screw (“Brand” valve at end of control cable).
10. Turn allen adjustment screw counter-clockwise on “Brand” valve to reduce and clockwise to increase pressure. Set pressure at 2000 PSI.

11. Reverse steps 9, 6, 5, 4, 2 and 1 to finish adjustment and prepare digger for work.

12. Be sure to grease shaft bearings and pivoting arms weekly.
13. Adjust gauge wheels so that depth of undercutter is about 2” under drip tape. Adjust coulter wheel so that roots are cut allowing drip tape to be pulled away form obstructions.
14. Letting drip tape lag slightly behind machine will allow trash to sluff off tape prior to winding. This can be done by moving the speed control valve handle to match tractor speed.
